Video Production
It’s a fact that education has evolved far beyond the traditional classroom. Along with that, video content has emerged as one of the most effective tools for teaching and learning, offering a dynamic and engaging way to deliver information. From animations that explain complex concepts to real-life demonstrations that spark curiosity, videos for education cater to diverse learning styles and age groups, making education accessible and exciting for everyone.
Whether you’re a teacher looking to supplement lessons, a parent searching for interactive resources, or a student eager to explore topics independently, there’s no denying educational video production has become an essential part of modern learning.
That’s why, in today’s post, we’ll explore the importance of educational videos for students and provide examples tailored to different age groups, from kindergarten to college students.
Videos play a transformative role in education by engaging students visually, offering an immersive experience that textbooks alone cannot provide. Moreover, they cater to a variety of learning preferences—whether a student is a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner—making them an inclusive resource for classrooms and self-study.
Additionally, videos break down complex topics into manageable, relatable content. Through animations, infographics, or real-world examples, they make abstract ideas more tangible and accessible. Videos also allow for repeated viewing, enabling students to learn at their own pace and revisit challenging concepts.
Videos for education are most effective when they align with your audience’s needs, interests, and developmental stages. From playful animations for young learners to in-depth lectures for college students, there’s a wealth of content tailored to different age groups and learning levels. By selecting the right videos, educators and parents can inspire curiosity, reinforce key concepts, and make learning an enjoyable experience.
Below, I’ve compiled some of the best examples of educational videos for each age group, highlighting the aspects that make them engaging and relevant.
Young learners benefit most from engaging, colorful videos that combine light education with entertainment.
Every kindergarten teacher is familiar with the challenge of finding effective ways to keep small kids entertained while actively learning. That’s why I chose this piece to kick off our list! This video for education looks like your ordinary cartoon every kid loves, but it features a fun, easy-to-learn song that teaches basic shapes and colors.
There are some concepts, like basic life skills, that are not easy to explain to small children, simply because they’re of no interest to them. But this educational video for kids is especially designed to catch their attention with a combination of gorgeous animation and engaging songs. The result is an entertaining piece that’s teaching them about something important without them even noticing!
Now, elementary students thrive with videos that introduce fundamental concepts without overwhelming them with tons of information.
Elementary students still need to have fun and play games to learn and be engaged. However, explaining the rules to a room full of easily distracted children can be tricky. That’s why this video earned a spot among the best examples of educational videos for elementary students! It easily breaks down the rules to play Catan in an adorable way that catches and holds the viewer’s attention until the end.
Now, if we’re talking about videos for education that can serve as lecture aids, then you can’t miss this piece. It’s a bite-sized lesson on gravity, a complex science topic, that’s explained in a fun and approachable way that anyone can easily understand. What I really like about this video, though, is how it begins with clear, real-life examples of gravity in action that any kid can relate to.
Educational videos for middle and high school students should focus on explaining more complex topics and fostering critical thinking.
At this stage of the educational ladder, students are ready for long-form video content that actually goes deep into the topic at hand. This video is a great example of how you can show the real-life applications and importance of the topics you’re teaching while reinforcing certain concepts and definitions. I also like that it’s divided into “chapters”, just like a textbook would, to make everything easier to follow.
Here’s another great example of the importance of videos for education. In this piece, we’re walked through the history of QR codes and their impact on modern society. It’s easier to make the connections between concepts and historical events visually, and even easier to remember them!
At the university level (often referred to as “college” in the US), videos should provide in-depth explorations of specialized topics.
For advanced students at college level, you can use videos for education on instrument usage, for example. Like in this piece we made for our friends a Thermo Fisher, you can explain processes, procedures, and handling of equipment using the complex terminology of your niche without fear of losing students’ attention in the process because the animation keeps their eyes glued to the screen.
You can also provide full lectures through video content, like in this example of educational videos for university students that’s 40 minutes long! This type of content can be particularly useful for students to strengthen at home what they’ve learned at the lecture hall or even to do some revision before an exam.
While it’s true that we’re mainly an explainer video company, we’ve produced hundreds of videos for a wide variety of purposes and industries, and that includes videos for education and school promotional videos! After partnering up with both startups and Fortune 500 companies like McKesson, Walmart, Amazon, Red Bull, and more, we’ve learned that no two projects are alike.
This is what we bring to the table:
So, if you’re looking for an educational video that clearly breaks down complex topics in a fun and effective way that gets your students excited about learning, just send us a message! We’d love to discuss how we can tackle your ideas!
